Letter to You

Dear Friends,

Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us! We know that you have lots on your mind, so thanks for stopping and taking a peak at us.

We have been married for almost 5 years and we have enjoyed every minute of it (honestly!). Throughout our marriage we always find reasons to laugh and have fun. We also have both looked forward to being able to expand our family. After a few years of not being able to become pregnant, we went to many doctors and had lots of tests done, only to find out that the doctors don’t know what’s wrong. After many fertility treatments, prayers, temple attendance, and promptings from priesthood blessings that we have received, we decided to pursue adoption as a way to have a family.

A Bit About Us. . .

Although our desire to have children has not been fulfilled, we have been able to use our time to travel and spend time together. Our favorite trips were going to London in 2008 and then to Paris in 2009. We LOVED London and all the sights, and museums, but the food was pretty terrible! Paris was a beautiful, romantic city and the food was amazing! We’ve also had many camping and family trips that we have been able to experience. Ever year we usually go up to Sam’s parent’s cabin in Lake Tahoe, as well as visiting my parents in Maryland. The time that we have been able to spend together on our trips has been a great way to relax and strengthen our marriage.

A Bit About Marcie. . .

Marcie has taught elementary school for the past 6 years. She loves children and she seems to attract kids to her everywhere she goes (kind of like the Pied Piper!). Marcie is excited for the day when she can spend time with our children. She has taught 3rd grade for 5 years and 1st grade for 1 year. Marcie has her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from BYU-Idaho. She has earned her California Credential and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree. She was also placed on the Board of Directors for the College that she attends for her Master’s Degree.

Marcie enjoys baking (as long as she gets to eat it), blogging, decorating, traveling, photography, shopping, and spending Sam’s money! Haha! She also enjoys playing the piano and her music fills our home.


A Bit About Sam. . .

Sam has worked as an Accounting Manager at a food products company for the past 3 years. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and will complete his Master’s Degree in Accounting by summer of 2010. He looks forward to finishing this chapter of his education (as is Marcie!).

He enjoys playing sports (especially baseball/softball). Sam also loves to work in our backyard and has built several walkways, patios, and flowerbeds in our yard. Sam also had the opportunity to serve in the England Leeds mission. It was one of the greatest experiences of his life (minus the tasteless food). Sam also has this incredible ability to make people around him laugh and smile. Sam is pretty well known for telling many lame jokes, but you have to laugh because they are so lame. His favorite joke is: What’s brown and sticky? Answer: A stick. Case in point!

Our thoughts about adoption

Adoption is something that we talked about, even when we were engaged, but we always thought that we would adopt later in life. We’ve both had numerous friends who were adopted or who have adopted, and we’ve seen the joy within their families because of it. Sam has also experienced this first-hand because his youngest brother was adopted. Also as a teacher, Marcie always “adopts” new students every year! She loves them as she would her own children.
